Panicum Virgatum ‘Squaw’ (Finger grass) is an ornamental grass with upright growth. The leaves are green with a red colour that turns bright red in autumn. From July to September, the ornamental grass blooms with beautiful pink-red flower panicles that turn a straw colour in late autumn. Panicum does well as a solitary, but is best in groups. Panicum ‘Squaw’ is well hardy and remains green until late winter.
Care Panicum Virgatum ‘Squaw’ (Finger grass), prefers a sunny spot. It does well in any soil that is not wet, but prefers dry to moist, slightly acidic soil. In drier seasons, it is important to water the plant sufficiently. It is advisable to prune the plant back to 10-20 cm above the ground every year in March. This will keep the ornamental grass healthy and you will soon see new shoots.
Size When delivered, the plants have a height of 40-60cm, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are delivered in a 23cm diameter nursery pot.
