The red berries of the Ribes Rubrum, also known as red currants, are packed with vitamins B and C and also taste delicious. The berries can be eaten straight from the tree, but they can also be used in smoothies, juices or jams. They are also delicious in yoghurt or cakes. This berry bush produces many berries that can be harvested in June and July. The berries ripen well when the plant is in the sun.

Care
The currant is an easy plant to care for. The shrub can be planted throughout the year in a spot with sun or partial shade. The berries will ripen better when the plant is in the sun. Make sure that the temperature does not drop below freezing when the plant is planted. The type of soil does not matter much to the plant, but it is important that the soil is sufficiently moist and not too calcareous.
