The Calathea Makoyana has the elegance and beauty of a peacock's tail, hence its rather glorious name. The leaves are light green with a dark green feathering effect from the centre of the leaf to the outer edges. When new leaves grow, they are rolled up and show their pinkish-red undersides, when they sprout they are light green and become darker as they age. The Makoyana is pet-friendly and prefers a little shade, so it is the perfect choice to brighten up a dull corner. Fun fact: The Makoyana is also known as the praying plant since it closes its leaves at night.

Care
A Calathea is not only a beautiful plant to look at, it also has an air-purifying effect. Put the plant in a bright place, but not in direct sunlight. A place a little further in the room is also fine. Spray the leaves at least once a week, because as a jungle plant it needs high humidity. Furthermore, Calathea’s are not toxic, and can eventually grow up to 100 cm high.

Size
The plant has a height of 40-50cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 17cm.
