Polyscias, also known as Aralia, is native to Asia, Africa and Pacific islands. Polyscias is Greek for Many (Poly) Shade (scias). This is not because it prefers to be in a shady spot, but because it can grow very large in the wild and offers loads of shade. Polyscias Balfourii has unique round or heart-shaped leaves in a beautiful green, white or yellow colour. The leaves grow all over the branch, making for a beautiful, full plant. The sturdy trunk and branches make it look like you have a small tree in your home.
Care The Polyscias likes a constantly slightly moist soil, but be careful not to give it wet feet. This can cause the roots to rot. In the beginning it is a bit of a test how much water the plant needs. Periodically feel the soil with your fingers to find out how fast the soil dries. The faster the soil dries, the more water you can give. The Polyscias especially likes rain water. Tap water often contains too much lime, which can turn the leaves white.
Size The plant has a height of 70-80cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 19cm.
