Collection: Succulents

Succulents are a versatile and increasingly popular choice, admired for their thick, water-storing leaves that come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colours. Well-known examples include Aloe vera, valued not only for its striking appearance but also for its medicinal uses, Echeveria with its beautiful pastel rosettes, and Crassula, often recognised as the “money plant”. Succulents bring a refreshing touch of greenery to any space, and their unusual forms make them a true focal point indoors or out.

Care and the ideal location

Succulents are perfect for anyone seeking low-maintenance plants. They thrive in bright positions, such as on a sunny windowsill or in a sheltered outdoor spot. Because they store water in their fleshy leaves, they require minimal watering. In summer, once every two weeks is usually sufficient, while in the winter months they need even less. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot, so well-draining soil is a must. Although they are undemanding, succulents will flourish and even flower when given plenty of light.

Origin and varieties

Succulents are native to arid, sun-drenched regions such as Africa and South America, where they have adapted to survive tough conditions by conserving water in their leaves. Aloe vera, one of the best-known species, originates from the Arabian Peninsula, while Echeveria is native to Mexico and Crassula to South Africa. Available in a wide range of forms and sizes, succulents can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors, provided they are protected from extreme cold. Easy to care for, decorative and exotic, succulents bring a natural touch of the desert into your living environment.
