The beautiful Japanese Maple Katsura is an ornament for any garden, but also does well in a pot or container on a terrace or balcony. The plant can grow up to 3 metres tall, but it takes many years to reach this height. This is because the Japanese Maple Katsura is a slow-growing shrub/small tree. The Katsura is a beautiful variety, with brilliant orange-yellow leaves in spring. In summer, the leaf colour is golden yellow-green, and in autumn the plant steals the show with a beautiful orange autumn colour. The Japanese Maple is hardy and deciduous.
Care Japanese maples are best planted from March to early October. During this period, the soil is warmer and the plants can root well. In a planter, this plant does not require special potting soil. Japanese maples are strong plants but in a windy location, the leaves can be damaged. Therefore, place the Acer in a sheltered spot. The plant prefers a spot in semi-shade, preferably not too much direct sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can dry out the roots, leading to leaf loss and burning. A Japanese maple is not evergreen, meaning it loses its leaves in winter. However, the plant is very hardy and will sprout again from March with beautiful new leaves.
Size The plant has a height of 60-70cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plant is supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 19cm.
